A shift back to blogs
I have been reflecting a lot lately about our social media journey - how this has solely been focused on Instagram and adapting our content to suit the forever changing rules and algorithms Meta decides it wants to imply on people. When I first discovered social media I used Instagram to post pictures that I thought were ‘indie’ when I was a first year uni student living in Newtown. Prior to this, I followed people along via blogs. I really enjoyed the content heavy engagement - the way you could get lost in someones words and learn so much through text. Reading blogs opened up my world to new ways of thinking and new ways of being. I still look up old blogs I read back in the day when I am lacking inspiration. And some of the best recipes I have ever cooked have come from those original blogs. So, in a hope to restore some of this magic (and maybe slightly due to being influenced by the state of the world, especially America right now, I feel a need to transition back into the world of regular blogging. I still do love Instagram and are forever thankful for the people, connections and inspirations I have met through the platform, but I feel a shift in the way we want to do things for Lotte’s into the future and how we want to engage with people. We will still be posting our regular photos and videos of life in our cottage, but I feel backing this up with more hearty content couldn’t go astray. I miss reading deep into things people share. I miss the connections beyond just double clicking on a heart below a photo - I want to know the why and the how behind the what. So, with this in mind, I am excited to share that we will start sharing our regular musings via blogs and monthly emails to our subscribers. This will be a way where we can share more than just a photo. This is a way we can share our favourite recipes, our favourite beach spot, updates on our lives and more of who we are - because running an accomodation business is really only one aspect of our full and busy lives. I hope you feel inspired to follow along and I also hope you feel inspired to explore other ways to engage with people from afar, away solely from Instagram and Meta. See you at my next post, Miranda. x
